Join our Governance Team
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees at The Legacy Learning Trust, a successful, growing multi-academy trust founded in 2018. We are proud to work with schools in both secondary and primary phases of education across the Tees Valley. Although each school is unique, they are united by a shared vision and commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for our children.
We are looking for like-minded individuals who share our vision and values to contribute their time and expertise as Trustees. As a Trustee, you will play a key role in guiding the trust’s strategic direction and holding executive leaders accountable for both educational and financial performance.
Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees
As a Trustee, you will hold the legal status of both a company director and a charity trustee. The core functions of your role will include:
- Ensuring clarity of the trust’s vision, ethos, and strategic direction
- Overseeing and holding executive leaders accountable for educational and financial performance
- Safeguarding the trust’s accountability to the public purse
The Trust Board meets at least three times a year, either in our central offices or online. Trustees are expected to attend as many meetings as possible. In addition, sub committees meet three times annually. These are:
- Standards
- Resources, Employment and Finance (REF) &
- Audit and Risk
Role of a Trustee
This is a voluntary, non-executive role and offers significant personal and professional development opportunities. You will have access to free training programs related to education and governance, making it a rewarding role for those looking to grow their skills while making a positive impact.
We are seeking professionals with:
- A strong general skillset, especially in business and organisational growth.
- Experience in roles that include corporate governance responsibilities.
- Specialist senior experience in legal or compliance fields.
- Experience of school improvement beyond one individual school.
- Specialism in any operational capacity including, finance, audit, risk, people and culture and estates.
Ideally individuals will hold relevant professional qualifications associated.
