At The Legacy Learning Trust we place high expectations for behaviour and learning at the core of our Conduct Curriculum starting right from the earliest years. Our Conduct Curriculum sets out clear, relevant and realistic societal non-negotiables that support learners in becoming well-rounded, independent individuals who positively contribute to their communities and future workplaces.
We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication. We are committed to ensuring that every learner feels seen, supported and understood. Learners are explicitly taught what it means to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn, supporting them to understand what safe and responsible behaviour looks like in practical and accessible ways.
Each school promotes a strong set of core values – which include but are not limited to – respect, empathy, kindness, honesty, resilience and tolerance. These values underpin our everyday interactions and are woven into lessons, pastoral care and school life helping learners develop a strong moral compass.
We prioritise building strong, respectful relationships between staff, learners and families. Staff model positive relational behaviour and work proactively to support learners in developing social and emotional maturity. For our neuro-diverse learners, additional focus is placed on emotional regulation, sensory needs and social understanding.
When behaviour falls short of expectations, we use restorative practices to support reflection, accountability and growth. Learners are guided to understand the impact of their actions and are supported in making things right in a non-judgmental and constructive way. Our approach emphasises the development of self-regulation, resilience and a positive mindset towards school life.
Our focus on attendance and punctuality is crucial aspects of personal responsibility. Learners are regularly reminded of the importance of being present and on time, not just as an academic requirement, but as a life skill that fosters success and respect in all areas of life.
Our Conduct Curriculum helps our learners build the social and emotional skills they need to manage challenges, work collaboratively and approach learning with a positive mindset. These foundational skills are vital for their future academic success, personal growth and future success.
